To the Consulate General of the
Kingdom of Spain, in Houston, with jurisdiction in New Mexico, Oklahoma,
and Texas: We, the undersigned citizens of Houston, of the State of Texas,of the United States of America,do hereby pay our respects for the memory of those who lost their lives the hands of terrorists in Madrid, Spain, on March 11, 2004. Furthermore, it is our desire to express our compassion for those who lost loved ones and are now in lonely pain, our solidarity with the good people of Spain in their time of sorrow; and to manifest the part of humanity that is against those who, as Spanish author Javier Marías put it, want to "...see the people weeping. ”On this day, Thursday, March 25, 2004, we remember when the people of Spain stood with us, and we do not forget you now; and, we stand in testimony against terrorism directed at any human being, anywhere. | ||||||||
